MATRIDENTITY documents my search for female identity following the loss of my mother by comparing three ways in which I identify with her: the loss experience, our physical likenesses, and through my memories of her. My story of loss and identity is told through three self-portrait diptychs, which were woven on a computer-assisted Jacquard loom. I am captivated by the technology of and the melding between digital design and woven craft that is unique to the digital Jacquard loom, but also by the juxtaposition of technical process and conceptual emotion.
