up close + personal - community art project and senior refashion show

The Up Close and Personal project utilized re-purposed clothes to tell stories. Early in 2012, participants engaged in activities such as sewing, stitching, and screen printing to depict personal stories and memories through their clothing items that became part of a larger installation at the Seymour Senior Center in Chapel Hill, NC. Participants also created new garments from the donated clothing for an up-cycled refashion show, many of which created garments that expressed specific personal memories. Two fashion shows were held for the public at the Seymour Senior Center and University Mall.
